The Bravest Princess Ever

The Bravest Princess Ever

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away there lived a young princess named Annastazia. Annastazia was very much like your ordinary princess in many ways. She was beautiful to look at, had pretty clothes to wear, and lived in a pink and purple castle on top of a green hill. Annastazia lived in the castle with her parents the king and queen.

However, Annastazia was different from most princesses in one way, she could fly. The king and queen realized this amazing gift when their daughter was first born. The queen had just tucked little Annastazia into bed and left the nursery when she was shocked to here giggling and general commotion coming from behind the closed door. The frightened queen rushed back into her daughter’s room, only to find the tiny princess soaring up...down......and around the room.
From that day on the king and queen were beside themselves with worry for their daughter. Annastazia like to fly all over the castle. Doctors could not explain the strange phenomenon, and told the distraught parents that maybe someday she would grow out of it.

But Princess Annastazia did not grow out of flying; instead she loved it more and more. Over time her parents just accepted the fact that their daughter could fly. They became very proud of her. They did insist however, that Annastazia still learn to be a proper princess. But princess lessons were not Annastazia’s favorite thing to do. Annastazia preferred to flying and playing with the birds to learning how to curtsy properly. Sometimes when it was time for lessons, Annastazia would fly up into a tree on the castle grounds and play with the birds. She would pretend not to hear her mother calling her. It was a very naughty thing to do! But Annastazia loved her parents and even though she wasn’t very fond of her lessons, she tried to learn the best she could in order to please them.

As time passed and Princess Annastazia grew older, she became beloved by everyone in her kingdom for her kindness and helpfulness. Whenever a task involving flying was needed, the princess was always eager to help. She helped get kites out of trees, cats off roofs, and baby birds back in their nests. When there was a drought in the land, Princess Annastazia would fly up and talk to the clouds. With her sweetness and gentleness she would convince the clouds to rain again.

One day in late spring, a terrible blackness fell over the land. It covered up the sun and turned the sky dark. All of the birds stopped singing. The kingdom was silent and everyone stood outside of their homes starring up in fear at the sky. What could be covering up all of the light?

Princess Annastazia stood next to her parents as they looked out from the castle at the black sky. The queen nearly fainted, and the king looked fearful. “The kingdom will be ruined,” cried the queen. “We must send for our trusted advisors,” said the king.
But when the advisors arrived they were just as perplexed as the rest of the kingdom. No one knew what the blackness was that had covered up the light.

Princess Annastazia knew there was just one answer to this problem. “I will fly high, high up in the sky and see what is causing this blackness”, she said confidently.

Although the king and queen did not want their precious daughter to undertake such a dangerous mission, they didn’t know what else to do. After many hugs and kisses Princess Annastazia took off. Everyone in the kingdom watched as she flew up towards the blackness.

When Princess Annastazia reached the highest part of the sky she could fly to, she called out to the blackened sun. “Sun, why have you turned black?” At first there was no reply. Then in soft voice the sun answered. “I am here. I am just hiding behind the moon. This is a solar eclipse. The moon is blocking my light. I will return very soon. Don’t worry brave princess.”

The princess was overjoyed that the kingdom was not in terrible danger. She flew quickly back down to her anxiously waiting family and kingdom. Princess Annastazia explained what the sun had told her. Just as she finished telling everyone about the solar eclipse, the moon moved from covering the sun and the kingdom was filled with light. The birds began to sing again and everyone in the kingdom let out a cheer for Princess Annastazia, the Bravest Princess Ever!

I always wished I could fly.... even had dreams where I could. Great idea for a story because I think most kids dream for that. Keep writing!!!!

You should save all these for Stacy when she gets older. She will treasure them. Great start on what I am sure will be a great adventure.
